Optical filters are used to select the desired spectrum of a light beam. This can be necessary for different conditions. Bandpass filters are frequently used to clean up the spectrum after a beam source or before a detector. Bandpass, short-pass, long-pass, band-stop, and notch filters or beam splitters are distinguished according to their design.
