In general, an ellipsoid has two focal points and the light that passes through one focal point also passes through the other focal point after being reflected from the elliptical surface. According to this principle, when a light source is directed to one focal point, it is possible to collect light in the other focal point.

You can use the 0 - 45° wide-angle dielectric mirrors for an optical system to move light back and forth between two mirrors or Michelson interferometers if you want to use a mirror with an angle of incidence of 45° or less.
