Substrates

These lower cost optical flats have minimal reduction in surface quality and are suitable for most applications.

Float Glass is a glass substrate produced by the float process used in the manufacture of window glass.
These sapphire windows contain no impurities and provide high transmission without any absorption, covering the visible and infrared regions of the spectrum.
Silicon is a monocrystal mainly used in semiconductors and does not absorb in the IR range from 1.2 µm to 6 µm.
Germanium as a monocrystal, which is mainly used in semiconductors, is non-absorbing in IR ranges from 2 µm to 20 µm.
