About the Role
We are looking for a Photonics Advisor to strengthen our team in the field of telecom fiber optics and fiber components for telecom and quantum photonics applications.
In this role, you will act as a technical expert and trusted advisor supporting customers and sales teams in identifying and implementing advanced photonic solutions. You will work at the intersection of fiber optics technologies and emerging quantum photonics applications, helping customers select and integrate the right components for their systems.
You will collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, and internal sales teams, providing technical expertise across a broad portfolio of fiber optic components and photonic technologies.
Your Responsibilities
Technical Expertise & Customer Support
- Provide technical consulting and application support to customers in telecom fiber optics and quantum photonics.
- Support the sales team during technical discussions, product selection, and system design.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations in collaboration with suppliers and internal laboratories.
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate components for quantum communication, sensing, and photonic systems.
Photonics & Fiber Optic Technologies
Work with technologies such as:
- Polarization maintaining fibers (PM fibers)
- Fiber couplers and beam splitters
- Polarization controllers and polarization beam splitters
- Fiber isolators and circulators
- Fiber delay lines
- Specialty fibers and photonic components used in quantum photonics systems
Technical Content & Knowledge Sharing
- Prepare application notes, white papers, and technical documentation
- Deliver technical presentations, webinars, and conference talks
- Support the technical training of sales teams
Supplier & Product Line Support
- Collaborate with leading photonics manufacturers
- Participate in supplier meetings and technical discussions
- Support product line development, market analysis, and technology scouting
Business & Marketing Support
- Support trade shows, technical seminars, and workshops
- Assist with market research and identification of new opportunities in quantum technologies
Your Profile
Education & Experience
- Degree – BSc or MSc in Photonics, Optics, Physics, or Electrical Engineering
- Several years of experience in:
- Fiber optics
- Photonic components
- Telecom photonics
- Quantum photonics or quantum communication (a strong plus)
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
- Fiber optics technologies
- Optical components and photonic systems
- Telecom photonics architectures
- Quantum photonics applications (QKD, quantum sensing, integrated photonics)
Skills
- Strong technical communication skills
- Ability to translate complex photonics concepts into practical solutions
- Customer-oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Languages
- Fluent German and English
- Additional European languages are a plus
